Clinton, Tennessee - On the strength of a three win season, Crossville, Tennessee's Randy Weaver has taken the lead in the 2010 Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series points chase. Weaver now leads leading Rookie of the Year contender Scott Creel of Franklinton, Louisiana by a mere ten markers. Following Creel is National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee Freddy Smith of Seymour, Tennessee. Moving into fourth in the standings is Somerset, Kentucky's Doug Smith who is also second in the Rookie of the year standings followed closely by Daniel Baggerly of Rural Retreat, Virginia.

The series now heads to the 13th Annual Michael Head, Jr. Memorial at Talladega Short Track. The 54 lap / $5400 to win affair pays tribute to the late son of 1991 Southern All Stars Champion Mike Head of Ellenwood, Georgia. Head was tragically murdered in April of 1997 in suburban Atlanta. The annual fundraiser at the Eastaboga 1/3 mile oval dubbed The Hornet's Nest benefits the Kayla Head Trust Fund. Kayla is Michael's daughter.
